Dutch as your second language (NT2)
NT2 Learn Dutch from A0 to B2
These courses are aimed at highly educated participants. It is a fairly intensive course, and it is expected that you do your homework every week (2-3 hours). The teaching material used is aimed at participants who speak English well and who have completed at least secondary education or higher. Dutch is the language of instruction, but explanations are often given in English.
If you want to enroll at a level higher than A0 and you have not previously taken a course at the Volksuniversiteit, you need to test your language level before you can enroll. You can sign up via info@vualkmaar.nl, after which we will refer you to a teacher.
The division of the class groups is according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Level and nature of the lessons
If you have little or no knowledge of Dutch, you can enroll in level A0-A2 via the website (enroll)
If you have taken a course or done independent study, you may be able to start at a higher level (A1 e.g.). All participants who start at a higher level than A0 and have not taken a course at the Volksuniversiteit Alkmaar will have an intake interview with one of our Dutch teachers. The teacher will then determine the appropriate level for the participant.

The lessons
Our courses are taught in a classroom setting on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evening from 19:00-21:30 hours.
The courses will proceed with a minimum of 6 participants and there is a maximum of 10 participants in all courses.
If a course is full, the registration will be closed. A waiting list is possible; however, you can only join at a later date with the consent of the teacher.
